New Kannada movies on OTT released this week [July 22-July 28, 2024] (2024)

It's been practice for a while now that if a Kannada film makes it to a major OTTplatform post release, there's no announcement for the same and if you have not activated notifications from the streamer or are not actively searching for new content, chances are that you may not even know when something new drops. This week so far, there's been one original Kannada title and a major dubbed film, but there maybe another Kannada film in the coming days, as it is on the streamer already, but for overseas audiences.

Here's a look at Kannada movies you can stream on OTT this week.

CHEF CHIDAMBARA

Jagappa and Sushmitha, who rose to fame on social media and later reality shows, made their big screen debut earlier this year with Online Madhuve Offline Shobana, a film about online weddings.

As the title suggests Crush is a love story, one that unfolds on a college campus. However, the narrative also focuses on the mystery behind the disappearance of the girl's mother.

This A-rated comedy film follows a playboy, played by Ajay Raj, who literally loses his manhood, after his girlfriend decides to take revenge on him for ditching her to marry a girl chosen by his folks.

Agnisakshi fame Vijay Suriya led this film about the IT sector. Directed by Chethan Shetty, a techie himself, Switch { Case N follows the protagonist as he strives for work-life balance.

Director Kumaar, of Chemistry of Kariyappa fame, picks up on the issue of gambling addiction, especially during the IPL season for his film, Critical Keertanegalu. The plot is narrated through 4 parallel stories, after an advocate moves court seeking a ban on betting around a certain cricket tournament.

Namma Flix's latest content acquisition is the Pradeep Varma directed Urvi, a film about human trafficking and how three girls take revenge on those responsible for their plight in a brothel. The 2017 film is on Amazon Prime Video too, but is now on the Kannada platform under a non-exclusive deal.

Almost a week after the Kannada sci-fi flick Blink became available to audiences in the UK and USA, it is finally in India too. The film is about a young man called Apurva (Dheeksh*th Shetty), whose quest to find out the truth behind his father's disappearance throws up some uncomfortable answers. Also starring Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Chaithra J Achar, Vajradheer Jain, among others.

Director KM Chaitanya presented a scene-to-scene remake of the Malayalam film Adi Kapyaare Kootamani. The Kannada version starred Likith Shetty in the lead, along with Amrutha Iyengar. The film marked the Kannada production venture of actress Ann Augustine and Friday Film Factory's Vijay Babu.

Bigg Boss fame Olle Huduga Pratham made his directorial debut with Nata Bhayankara, a film in which he played a superstar, and his tryst with a ghost on a revenge spree.

Veteran producer K Manju's son Shreyas made his acting debut with this Guru Deshpande directorial. Shreyas played an engineering student with musical aspirations in the film that explored if he is able to follow his passion or not. The film also stars Nishvika Naidu. Paddehuli is already on OTT and now comes to Namma Flix as well in a non-exclusive deal

The second instalment of director Suni's black magic tale, is now on OTT. Released in theatres on April 5, the film follows the attempts of multiple parties to possess the Trishanku mani, which gives the beholder immense powers.

Debutant director Santhosh Kodenkeri's Ravike Prasanda, based on a story by his wife Pavana. Led by Geetha Bharathi Bhat, the film's primary plot line follows her character Sanvi, whose attempt to get the blouse of her dreams to catch the attention of the man of her dreams falls flat. The film also stars Sampath Maitreya, Rakesh Maiya, Suman Ranganathan, among others.

Yuva Rajkumar's launchpad, Yuva, directed by Santhosh Ananddram, made its way to free streaming for subscribers. The film had Yuva as a promising wrestler, whose hopes of national glory go up in smoke, when he is suspended on suspicion of fraudulent practice. How he deals with that and a personal tragedy at home, forms the crux of the tale.

There are only three Kannada films on OTT this week, one of which is on its second streamer and chances are that you have seen it already. The other options, of course, are Shakhahaari and Chow Chow Bath, both of which received favourable reviews. Our recommendation is Shakhahaari, followed by Chow Chow Bath.
