Genshin Impact: One Silly Farming Mechanic Should Be Deactivated (2025)

There’s one silly farming mechanic in Genshin Impact that needs to be deactivated after years of feeling obsolete and annoyingly restricting. Farming and the subsequent grinding it brings have always been major issues for HoYoverse’s popular action RPG. Even though some aspects of them have been addressed and improved over the past few years, such as the implementation of the Artifact crafting system via the usage of Sanctifying Elixir in Genshin Impact, other aspects are still tough to ignore, like the difficulty involved in obtaining good Artifact rolls or even dropping the desired Talent material from weekly bosses.

Farming isn’t much of an issue when the game doesn’t impose too many limiting factors upon players. Obtaining overworld enemy drops, for example, involves a level of challenge and dedication but, usually, players can easily obtain these if they follow farming routes. Some enemies were problematic in the past due to their scarcity on maps, like Specters and Nobushi, but even that has been addressed with the increase in their material drop rates, for example. While there’s been a lot of improvement applied to reduce farming problems in Genshin Impact, there’s still one outlasting problem that needs to be removed.

Genshin Impact's Specific Farming Days Are Restricting

Talent Books & Weapon Materials Can Only Be Farmed On Specific Days Of The Week

One of the most annoying farming-related systems in the game is the existence of day-specific drops. There are certain Domains and, subsequently, materials, that can only be farmed thrice a week. Domains that drop Talent books and weapon Ascension materials can only be tackled on specific days and, outside of those days, they offer other materials for players to farm. Players farming Mavuika’s materials in Genshin Impact, for example, will need to obtain a large sum of Contention Talent books but, because of the limitation imposed on them, they will only be able to farm on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

The character banners for Genshin Impact 5.4 have allegedly leaked and the chosen units for banners may be hinting at a new Chronicled Wish.

When the game was first released, this was a great way of helping players understand how to spread out their farming efforts when leveling up multiple characters – each character’s Talent books could be farmed on a specific day of the week, so players would rotate farming efforts. Nowadays, this type of daily structure doesn’t make sense. With tough endgame activities like the Imaginarium Theater, players need to have their characters maxed out as soon as possible, and the daily limitation for farming, on top of the problematic weekly boss material drops in Genshin Impact, put a damper on this.

Restricting Players' Farming Activities In Genshin Impact Goes Against User Experience

It’s Frustrating To Not Progress Because The Game Limits Farming In Such A Way

Overall, the daily limitation on these specific activities heavily affects the general user experience in the game. It forces players to log in on days they weren’t originally planning and, if they miss the opportunity, they have to wait more days without upgrading their desired character’s Talents. Considering the large amount of Talent books each character consumes, any type of wait can postpone a character’s maximum upgrade by days, if not weeks or months. The inability to use our Daily Resin in Genshin Impact to farm precisely what we need, especially with the large number that is needed, is outrageous.

It’s disappointing to go all-out farming for a character’s Talent books or a weapon’s Ascension materials one day and then pass the next two or three days doing nothing toward their upgrades, hoping that their performances on the field will spontaneously improve when the game is the one impeding that from happening at all. The idea is that day-specific farming efforts are to be balanced by other necessary farming activities like weekly bosses or Artifact grinding in Genshin Impact. There are a few problems, however. Weekly bosses live up to their titles and can only be challenged once a week.

As such, players will swiftly obtain what they want – or not, considering the uncertainty of these Talent material drops – and be free to pursue other sorts of farming. This could be done by running Artifact Domains but, if players are lucky enough to obtain a set and be satisfied with the stats and sub-stats the pieces provide for their characters, they are, once again, free to use their Resin elsewhere. Ideally, this would be invested into Talent books, used to max out a character’s abilities. Removing the daily limitations in Genshin Impact would significantly improve the general experience.

All Material Domains In Genshin Impact Should Always Be Like Sundays

On Sundays, All Types Of Materials Can Be Farmed From These Domains

There’s even a way of doing this, as exemplified by the game. On Sundays, all types of materials a Domain can drop throughout the week can be farmed. Players can challenge the specific activity they want in search of the material they desire, even if the Domain makes other activities and materials available, too. If day-specific Domains treated every day of the week like Sundays, players would be able to farm what they want at any given time. There would still be an effort to obtain the large quantity needed to max out Talents or a weapon in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 5.4 Leaks: How Many Primogems Are In Available In The Next Update

The estimated number of Primogems in Genshin Impact 5.4 has leaked and, compared to what was offered in Version 5.3, it’s a very disappointing amount.

However, the frustration of not being able to farm would not exist. As a Honkai: Star Rail player, this is particularly annoying. The turn-based RPG by HoYoverse allows players to farm materials needed for a character’s abilities or Light Cone Ascension at any time, given that players have Trailblaze Power (the equivalent to Resin). The solution to this specific problem in the action RPG is within HoYoverse’s grasp as they have already made it possible in their other title.

Why this player-friendly update hasn’t been implemented in Genshin Impact is still a mystery, but it would greatly benefit players.

There’s still a great deal of progress that the game has to make to alleviate the burden of farming, especially when compared to other games with a similar structure under the company’s development and publishing houses. The action RPG would be so much better if it got rid of its punitive practices and a great start would be to remove daily limitations on certain Domains. As the game moves forward, hope remains that Genshin Impact will become more user-friendly and, hopefully, one day, we’ll be able to farm whatever item we desire, any day of the week.
