Corgis naturally bark a lot.

Corgis are known to be affectionate and usually enjoy cuddling. However, some may prefer to show their love in other ways. So, while Corgis generally like cuddles, we can't say they enjoy it more than other dogs.

Also, Corgis tend to only really bond with one owner. They'll show other people in the family plenty of love, but they pick a clear favorite. For families, this can create problems, especially if the person whom the Corgi picks is only one of the children.

A healthy adult Corgi shouldn't be left alone for longer than 6–8 hours. If you think you'll be away longer than that, you can ask a pet sitter, family member, neighbor, or friend to check on them. They could let them out or take them for a walk, which will tire them out until you return.

Most Corgis are done growing by the time that they are about 1 year old, though they may continue to fill out for a year or two more. By 3 years of age, your Corgi should have reached their full height and weight potential. From there, they may gain weight only if they are overeating and/or not getting enough exercise.

Though some Corgis like to swim and can swim reasonably well, there's no guarantee that every Corgi will take to it. If your Corgi isn't fond of swimming, respect this and allow them to sit things out. There are plenty of ways they can join in the fun without swimming at all.

Susan, the monarch's pet dog who was the matriarch of 14 generations of royal corgis, died on Jan. 26, 1959. After Susan's death, Queen Elizabeth penned a thank you note to veterinarian Harold Swann, who had tried to save the Pembroke Welsh corgi's life.

It was Sarah, duch*ess of York, who found the puppies that were given to the Queen. After the Queen's death in September 2022, it was announced that Andrew and Sarah would adopt the two surviving royal corgis, and they would be resettled to their residence in the Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate.
