I don't necessarily think the 96M at $8,700 is priced at a 'collector price'. Any M edition with 35,000 miles is probably worth at least $8,000 to the right buyer considering this seller knows how to price it. But this guy needs to fix the AC first.

This is why it sucks to be in the middle of Illinois :) I like the price on the 93LE!

The LE really piques my interest. It has 124,000 miles and the AutoCheck looks good. After market rims on car now, but stock rims and hub caps are included. Owner seems like a nice guy. Said interior is 8/10 and no accidents over three owners.

If only it was not so far away and that my wife wouldn't shoot me for buying another Miata.

I think the '93 LE may be a quick flip of one purchased a couple of weeks ago w/ HT for under $4K. Not certain, but if that matters to you be sure to ask current owner's history with car. Best of luck -- it would make a great drive back to AZ!

@ 5k without hardtop I don't think that is a great deal, but if it as clean as the low res pictures show it might be a decent deal. It is missing the front chin spoiler btw...

Jim,

This crossed my mind after seeing the below from AutoCheck. The owner said he's owned the car about two years, but that doesn't explain the "TITLE" event in Dec. '07. I'm guessing a "TITLE" event means a change of ownership since it follows a registration. Does anyone know if that's the case?

09/02/1997 ELK GROVE, CA Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE

12/09/2006 SACRAMENTO, CA Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE

12/30/2007 WEST SACRAMENTO, CA Motor Vehicle Dept. TITLE

Thanks for everyone's comments.

Eddie,

Funny - the one that I was thinking of that was sold recently was in fact in Sacramento (and it had after-market wheels and HT on it too), so just make sure you do your due diligence if seriously pursuing this.

I believe "Title" does mean change of ownership. The only time I've seen differently is when someone who is leasing a car buys it at the end of the lease -- the legal title changes but the "owner" really doesn't.

Best of luck.

Unfortunately, Carfax is not all that accurate and often report registration renewals as a title event. Plus, if the owner moved and filed a change of address and requested a new title with the new address it will pop up a title event. My 91BRG went from NJ to Md. for the daughters college years and Md. requires you register in that state if you're going to be beyond some short period of time and you can't register without it being titled theres so it shows a title event when she went off to college and another when it was re-registered in NJ.
